TESTIMONIALS FROM ERASMUS ALUMNI

My name is Chiara, and during my academic journey I had the opportunity to take part in two Erasmus experiences that deeply shaped who I am today. During my bachelor’s degree, I studied in Germany at the University of Würzburg. That experience changed my life: I improved my German, immersed myself in a new culture, and discovered my passion for European integration, which led me to focus my studies on the European Union.

Erasmus is much more than studying abroad: it is a journey of personal growth. Living abroad teaches you independence, confidence, and opens the door to meaningful connections.
I strongly believe that experiences like Erasmus and international mobility should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their economic or social background, because every European citizen should have the opportunity to learn, grow, and connect across borders.

Inspired by my first experience, I chose a second Erasmus during my master’s degree at KU Leuven, which confirmed once again how transformative studying abroad can be.
As Sofia Corradi once said, Erasmus may not necessarily make you a better student, but it can certainly make you a better person. I truly believe that.

My name is Adrian, and I am currently a psychiatrist in training in Romania. To me, European mobility programs mean staying connected, understanding the realities experienced by fellow European citizens, and being better prepared for the future of any professional field.

I had the opportunity to participate in an exchange program in Lyon during my fifth year of medical studies. Beyond building meaningful connections, making wonderful friends, and experiencing la vie à la française, this experience sharpened my skills and strengthened my conviction that the exchange of knowledge is one of the European Union’s most powerful tools for becoming more resilient, innovative, and equitable.

I truly believe that the ability to shift perspectives is an essential form of mental flexibility that we should all cultivate.

Experiencing different cultures, educational systems, and ways of thinking broadens our understanding of the world and of one another. For this reason, I believe that opportunities such as Erasmus+, which allow students to travel, learn, and grow through international exchanges, should be accessible to every European student.

My name is Seb and during my undergraduate degree I was fortunate enough to study at the Universiteit van Amsterdam as part of my Erasmus learning exchange. The six months I spent living in the Netherlands were undoubtedly the highlight of my university life, exposing me to a vibrant international environment and allowing me to meet some of the closest friends I have ever had.

Studying abroad is a truly unique experience. It offers an opportunity to immerse yourself in a different culture, learn a new language, gain country-specific knowledge, and constantly engage with people who have had totally different upbringings and life-experiences.

My flat, for example, was a microcosm of the entire globe- every person held a different nationality, with representation across all the world's continents! This exposure to so many new things and people is brilliant for personal growth and, in my experience, generates huge self-confidence which you can take forward into the rest of your life.

I would recommend going abroad with Erasmus to everyone who is able to participate. It is literally a once in a lifetime opportunity- don't let it pass you by!
